Hello, my name is Jeanny van Melsen and I started at Learn Dutch in Maastricht in 2020.

I was born in Valkenburg a/d Geul and now live in a tiny village closeby Valkenburg. I appreciate the peace and quiet of the village and the beautiful nature surrounding it. I also live in Montreal, Canada for a couple of years.

Like all teachers at Learn Dutch in Maastricht, I find it very interesting to meet people from all around the world and to help them learn my native language.

I have worked in primary schools for most of my professional career and have worked with Dutch learning adults in the past few years. First as a taalcoach for Vluchtelingenwerk, helping a Syrian family. Later also as a volunteer at the Taalcafé at Centre Ceramique. People from all around the world come to the Taalcafé to practice their Dutch with native speakers. As a volunteer, I found it very rewarding helping learners to master the Dutch language.

I received professional training at Berlitz, where I also still work as a freelancer. I really enjoy working at Learn Dutch in Maastricht. I especially enjoy the small group size at this school, which ensures good vibes, enough personal attention for everybody and a great connection among students and teachers. I’m looking forward to meet you!
